The public lighting junction box: purpose and operation
Fitted in the access door at the foot of the lighting column or pole, the junction box connects the public lighting supply cable to the cable running up to the luminaire. It protects this circuit with a 10x38 fuse holder or a two-pole circuit breaker, and allows the luminaire to be isolated for maintenance without working on the rest of the network.
The Volta Box is made of self-extinguishing insulating polycarbonate, in insulation class II: its insulating enclosure improves personal safety, especially during maintenance. Its IK10 impact resistance and a protection rating matched to the specification, with IP54 available, make it last in the real conditions of urban and road lighting.
The Volta Box accepts copper or aluminium cables up to 50 mm² and is available in several network / luminaire configurations. A compact version, for cables up to 16 mm², equips garden poles of up to 6 m. Designed and manufactured by Volta Power, it is already installed in 18 Moroccan cities, from Larache and Oujda down to Dakhla.
